Each pathway focuses on a core area of modern metal guitar playing, guiding you through lessons step by step so you always know what to do next.
This article explains how our Learning Pathways work and how to get the most out of them.
What Are Learning Pathways?
Learning Pathways are curated sequences of lessons grouped by topic or skill.
Examples include:
Rhythm & Tightness
Chords & Voice Leading
Dynamic Techniques
Modern Metal Techniques
Songwriting Concepts
Each pathway builds from foundational concepts into more advanced material.
What Lesson Pathways Are Designed to Do
Pathways help you:
Avoid confusion about what to practise
Stay consistent
Make measurable progress
Build skills in the correct order
Connect isolated techniques into real musical ability
You must follow only one pathway at a time!
How to Use Lesson Pathways Effectively
To get the most out of a pathway:
Start at the first lesson
Follow each lesson in order
Practise the exercises provided
Move on only after you feel reasonably comfortable
Revisit challenging lessons as needed
There is no requirement to complete pathways quickly. Steady progress is expected.
About Orientation Clips (IMPORTANT)
ALL the pathways include an orientation task to submit a short 30–60 second clip of you playing the exercise.
Here’s what you need to know:
Orientation clips are not a performance test
They are simply a way to:
Track your starting point
Build accountability
Create a baseline for progress
Help you see improvements over time
They do NOT require:
Perfect accuracy
Clean execution
Tight rhythm
Full speed
Submit your best effort within 30–60 minutes, even if it’s messy
The goal is improvement, not perfection.
Orientation clips are there to support your journey, not discourage you.
Most members start with imperfect recordings — that’s entirely normal and expected.
Who Can Use Lesson Pathways?
Lesson Pathways are included for:
Ignite members (The Novice Pathway only)
Masters members
Masters members will see additional pathways. We recommend completing these pathways in the order they are presented.
When to Switch Pathways
You may want to switch pathways only if:
You’ve completed the one you're on
You've earned the conquerer badge
You can combine Pathways with Daily Guitar Hacks or Fundamentals for best results.
